Podcast #2 is all about Traffic and Conversion. The outline below will show the important things and key points you should consider. My channel hit 100,000 views this month so I figured what a great time to do a Youtube podcast (2:26)
The other channel that I manage basically hit 250,000 views for the past year and a half (2:38)
Youtube videos makes a faster ranking
You search for Facebook advertising strategies and you’ll see my videos like “How to Build a Custom Video Facebook Landing Page” that is found on top, “Pregnancy Workout at Home” you’ll see the top video on Google with the picture thumbnail, on Youtube it’s number 1 of course too. (3:51)
It’s very easy to dominate our local bases if that’s for your local bases because you are not competing on a national or international bases like the videos that I just mention so it’s really cool to see, there’s a lot of benefits to it. (4:34)
About the stats:
There are 800 million active users both in Youtube and Facebook (4:52)
Youtube gets 4 billion views every single day (5:08)
A total of 60 hours of video are uploaded every 60 seconds (5:13)
There are more videos that are uploaded on Youtube compared to the three major US networks created over the past 60 years (5:19)
On Facebook, 500 years of Youtube videos are watched every day and 700 Youtube videos are shared in Twitter every minute (5:38)
100 million people take a social action (like, share, comment etc.) on Youtube every week (5:45)
Youtube is considered to be the 2nd largest search engine and is the 3rd most visited site (5:59)
An average user spends 15 minutes of watching videos every day (6:06)
Its broad demographic is from 18-54 year old which is actually really broad (6:09)
In the next 10 years, 75% of all these channels will be internet channels (6:17)
Oh ya… and Google Owns YouTube
An important stat:
Video converts at least 10% better than the other means of generating sales and video closes the sales cycle by whopping 40% (6:34)
More importantly- Youtube makes your sales process upside down. In the mind of your potential customer or subscriber it takes you from being an annoying person or business trying to make sales into being a trusted advisor, or expert or authority. So instead you chasing customers, start having them chase you and that’s what happens. I get emails, I get voice mails on my 1-800 number, replies to my auto responders, every single day from people, companies all over the world asking me if they can hire me instead of learning it for themselves. (6:47)
People prefer to buy from experts- not from sales people (8:10)
Do you have to be a video expert? Or all polished in front of the camera? The answer is a BIG FAT NO. (8:28)
But the funny thing is the easiest videos to do are the most powerful and the one that converts the most into customers and subscribers and that’s a 100% of fact. (8:52)There are 3 types of video:
Recording in front of the camera (9:24)
Screen capture or screen recorded video (9:27)
Video slide show presentation (9:32)
There are 3 main topics in video marketing:
How you going to start making videos right now? (9:44)
How you can get your videos ranked on Google and Youtube fast and free? (9:48)
How to funnel that traffic back to your website or Facebook page? (9:53)
Suggested equipments to be used when using a video camera:
2 most important things of a video: lighting and audio (10:44) *the most important thing about video is getting your content out
Kodak Zi8 (12:00)
Consumer cameras like Canon- specifically the Vixia models (12:44)
Macbook laptop have good mic (13:20)
Lapel mic that hooks up to your shirt- Audio Technica ATR-3350 Lavalier mic for $20 (it’s not wireless but wired and with good quality) (13:41)
Blue Yeti for $100- considered as a high quality studio mic (14:16)
For lighting, best is Soft Box- can be found online thru eBay, Amazon and Google and always comes together with a green screen (14:37)
Software useful for screen capture or screen record videos
Screenflow for Mac- great for recording your screen (16:37)
Camtasia (both for PC or Mac) (17:17)
Camstudio (free version) (17:37)
Jing (free version)- but eventually it will go away (17:56)
Software for presentations
Microsoft Powerpoint ()
Apple Keynote- great in doing presentations
Animoto- creates visual 3D awesome videos
Softwares for Video Editing
iMovie (especially the iMovie 11 for it is so user friendly)
Screenflow for Mac- works good just like iMovie
Final Cut Pro (not recommended for it may be too complicated)
Sony Vegas- best choice for editing for it gives you enough functionality for everything that you need
Windows Movie Maker- it comes along free with your pc
Now having all these tools, it’s time to start making videos. Repeat the last three words: START MAKING VIDEOS. This is the important thing, start making videos.
Everybody online said that make a 30 second to 2 minute video but I’m not gonna say that. All the videos that gotten me the majority of my traffic, my client’s traffic is from LONGER and MORE INFORMATIVE videos that people usually comment on and like and share.
If you have compelling information, people will watch your video and if somebody in your target market is looking for an answer and you have the answer, they’re gonna watch your video, even if it’s 45 minutes long, my average video is about 20 minutes.
Don’t worry about the time, worry about the content, worry about helping people. ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT THE IMPORTANT POINT IS TO CREATE A VALUE.
Three main points of Traffic and Conversion
Know how to title your video which is very important
Setting up your description and optimizing video
Getting traffic to your videos and funneling it back to your site or Facebook page
Titling your video
Use Google keyword tools (Keyword ideas, Global/ Monthly)
Search in Google and see if any videos come up
Search in Youtube and see what comes up first
Setting up Description
Title the video using your keyword phrase
URL
Keyword phrase again
Captions (transcription of the video)
Annotations should be read by Google
Add your Youtube link in the description (can be left this out)
Get links to your videos- Go to Fiverr.com and get back links for $5 to the specific URL for your video (THIS IS HUGE)
Don’t stress if you’re not showing up at the top right away- 58% of my views are from my Youtube suggested videos!
Converting Youtube traffic
Most important part
Have calls to action during your video while you’re recording (both verbal and text if possible but not really necessary)
Annotations
What types of videos should you make?
Videos should be about the most frequently asked questions
Videos about questions people should be asking
Traffic and conversion
Find out how many times every month people in the world are searching for a certain keyword. (30:19)
And when I say keyword or phrase, I mean, How to Paint your House, that would be a keyword, okay, Seattle Painters would be a keyword, How to Lose Weight would be a keyword phrase, keyword or keyword phrase, same thing. (30:36)
Find a little bit longer tail keyword (30:44)
Try to do something more relevant to your business or to a question you’re trying to answer or solve (31:04)
You could do longer tail keywords for your local area. Now when you start to get in your local area like the city in the suburb, we’re talking way way last competition, way easier to rank. (31:23)
Titling video
Google keyword tool – Start searching for phrases that you think might be a topic that you want to do a video on (31:40)
The cool thing about this is when it does is it gives you a list of keyword ideas so if you search Seattle Painters then it will give you a whole of a 150 keywords that are similar to that like Painter Seattle, Painters in Seattle, Seattle Washington Painters, stuff like that (31:55)
Search in Google and see if any videos come up. When another video comes up with a picture thumbnail, then you might want to go to a different keyword maybe one word different, one slight word in that phrase. If it’s 4 words in your keyword phrase then maybe change one word and start to mess around. (33:26)
Go to YouTube and search in YouTube, see what videos come up first. Then there you’ll get some of the ideas too. What you can do is go to those videos and you can see how they do their title and their description. (33:45)
Description
The most important part of YouTube is what you put in the title and the description of your video because you are piggybacking off of YouTube’s authority as a site so that’s why you can get rank so quickly. So now what you have to do is you have to take it to the next level and show Google how relevant your video is to that specific keyword phrase. (34:15)
Your keyword phrase needs to be in your title. (34:33)
When you get inside your description, what you’re going to do is put your website first. Make sure you put the http://www.dominatewebmedia.com and then slash page and whatever homepage. (35:03)
I will start my description right after the website so just one space, you don’t need a comma or dash. (35:11)
You will basically repeat that keyword phrase again inside your description. And if possible, you might add the main 2 or 3 keywords again in the 2nd sentence if you can do that to make it sound normal. (35:38)
Don’t put tags that are very specifically related to the keyword phrase that you’re focused on. There’s no point in doing that. (35:50)
You can go to YouTube and find those videos on top and see what tags they have in there and that’s going to help you out. (36:07)
What you can do too is go the captions in your video and you can transcribe your video and upload that to a text file and upload that to the captions for the hearing-impaired in your video and now what will happen is Google can read that text, that’s a big bonus there. (36:27)
Annotations are great for creating calls to action in your video to get them to do stuff and then also give them an update in case you have an updated video that can link to another video from but also Google reads that text, very important. (36:46)
Annotations, captions, tags, all that stuff helps. (37:10)
Descriptions are very important to get you going and those should get your results right away especially in the local area. It just depends on how competitive it is and how much action you have in your videos when it comes to likes and shares, very important there. (37:33)
Get links to your videos
You want to get some links coming into your videos because that tells Google that your video is legitimate and that gives you credibility. You can go to one of my secret weapons called Fiverr.com (37:48)
Go there and for 5 bucks you can pretty much do anything. It’s the coolest thing ever, graphic design, voice overs, background images, stuff like that and back links. You can get hundreds of back links for $5. (38:05)
But with YouTube, Facebook, and Amazon and these high authority sites, it got millions of links already coming into them so by you sending in some links to your specific video URL, what that does is that really helps you to get a bump. You can do that for cheap without having to be an SCL expert. This is huge. (38:36)
Don’t stress if you’re not showing up at the top right away – 58% of my views are from YouTube suggested videos! That’s a lot. It’s like 3 times the actual or organic rankings. (38:54)
Converting YouTube traffic
This is the most important part; you really have to pay attention here. You got to bail to take this traffic in turning to the customer’s needs. So what you need to do is to have calls to action during your video while you’re recording your video, verbal and text if possible but not necessary. (39:46)
Introduce yourself or a business or a product. At the end, you can say go to www.mysite.com and I’ve got a free report for the top 5 mistakes that people make when they do this. (40:04)
You need to have some kind of an offer to have a reason for them to come to your site or come into your business, come into your Facebook page or call. It doesn’t need to be free, it just needs to be a good reason. So think about that. (40:19)
When you’re recording a video and you have these calls to action depending on how long it is but what you can do is to have annotations in your video with calls to action telling them to click on a link. (40:50)
What type of videos should you make?
Think about all of the most frequently asked questions the customers or clients have for your business and answer those questions in a bunch of short videos. (42:10)
Think about some of the questions that people should be asking and answer those. (42:24)
Do some videos about your products, about your business, types of things to help people that they might be searching for. Do some research on Google keyword tool and you’ll start to find more ideas and just start searching YouTube and you will find more ideas. (42:54)
If you’re doing video, newspaper, radio, TV, or something like that, you can always say go to your YouTube channel or your website. (43:27)
Youtube subscribers.
